The Nioxin Hair Follicle Booster is a serum that you apply to areas of thinning hair.
According to Nioxin, it is a vitamin-enriched leave-in scalp treatment exfoliates dead skin cells & impurities, helps fast absorption of advanced nourishment to hair, stimulates growth of hair. It is perfect for those have excessively thinning areas of low-density hairline.
In theory, it will provide the nutrients to your hair that would normally be absorbed by the hair follicle internally. When DHT (the cause of majority cases of hair loss) restricts the hair follicle, the hair shaft is unable to get the nourishment it needs and the hair become finer and thinner. This is formula is suppose to offset this and promote hair growth where hair is thinning.
Will the Nioxin Hair Follicle Booster Work?
Females
Yes, probably. For African-American women, it is reviewed particularly well.
The Nioxin Hair Follicle Booster is highly regarded among females. It should help grow hair faster and maintain hair in if you are experiencing non-androgenic or slightly androgenic (DHT) hair loss. It can speed the regrowth of hair, so long as the hair follicles have not been shrunk by DHT.
If you have a medical condition, such as hypothyroidism or a hormonal imbalance, that needs to be corrected - the Nioxin Hair Follicle Booster will not correct it or regrow hair until the condition is corrected. "I have been using this product for more than five years now and I have to agree with the reviewer (Richard K. Tate "U2 Fan") that the follicle booster doesn't grow new hair but will prevent hair loss. You should make a point to use it with the nioxin cleanser and scalp therapy for the best results. Additionally, use the follicle booster at least once a day if you want to see results. I believe that if women were to use this product the right way we would see less balding over time(especially in the crown area.) My hair is absolutely thicker from my use. I refuse to use any other product. Although the Nioxin products are costly, they do deliver. Use these products the right way and over time you will hold on to your hair."

"I find that follicle booster pretty much does the same thing as rogaine does, but at less of a price. For people who think this product will magically make your hair grow, here is a reality check.
Follicle booster does not regrow hair! It does, however, stop your hair from falling out. So if you are like me who still has hair growing, but loses hair faster than it grows, this may help you have a fuller set of hair. But, if your hair is not longer growing at all, then you would just use it as a preventive measure.
My scalp only turned red the first time I used it. It was more of a burning feeling than a tingly one. Ever since, I have not had a problem. "I used to work in a hair salon that mainly sold retail products for over 5 years. I can tell you this product works! It is supposed to be applied directly to the scalp. It can dry out your hair if you apply it sloppily and get it all over your hair. The main thing you need is the shampoo and the follicle booster and scalp treatment liquid. If you find that the conditioner dries your hair too much, you can use a different one like Joico -K pak (which is the best hair care line ever!) or Biolage. IMO, K-pak is best because it strengthens your hair w/o weighing it down. I've brought many heads of hair "back to life" and witnessed customers hair grow. Most people whose hair falls out were not using it poperly and it didn't fall out, it broke off. If you are interested try to find someone at the store who is knowledgeable because sometime they have little girls working there that dont know what they are talking about which results in improper use, and your hair drying out. So basically get the Nioxin shampoo. Because for it to work your scalp has to be very clean. Get the follicle booster. A good conditioner. Not too oily. Joico K-pak is the best. (the reg condioner and the deep penetrating reconstructor) Also, Nioxin has a good leave in conditioner. I forgot the exact name, but it is the liquid leave-in weightless spray. Goodluck. Hope I helped. FYI: I've used it, customers have used it, my whole family including my granny while she was recovering from chemo, my boss and my friends have used it with great results... "I just have one thing to say after reading the reviews - if its not working for you, then you arent using it enough. I have NEVER in my LIFE had long hair, now I do, because of this product. "I am really surprised at the difference the product makes in my hair! Growing up, I had really thick, but fine hair. More than 20 years of coloring combined with hereditary thinning was causing the top front area of my hair to become really thin.
